Webinar Alert: Groundwater in Arizona – The New Phoenix AMA Model and Its Impacts

The Governor and the Arizona Department of Water Resources recently announced a new groundwater model covering much of the Phoenix metropolitan area. The model projects a groundwater deficit of 4% of currently dedicated groundwater supplies at the end of the 100-year modeling period. As a result of the announcement, the Arizona Department of Water Resources stated it will no longer approve assured water supply applications in the Phoenix AMA that rely on groundwater. How may this affect existing water users in the Phoenix metropolitan area, and what does it mean for future development and economic expansion in Arizona? We invite you to attend this webinar to hear from Snell & Wilmer’s water rights team, including attorneys John Burnside, and Bill Staudenmaier, who will discuss and answer questions about the potential impact and legal implications of this new groundwater model. Byron Sarhangian, an attorney from the firm’s real estate practice group, will moderate this timely discussion.
