Today ACEC Research Institute representatives briefed members of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Standing Committee on Project Delivery Methods on the new report from the ACEC Research Institute, Design-Build State of Practice Recommendations for Agencies and Industry on Effective Project Delivery. Committee members heard about challenges facing design firms, including risk transfer and project harmony hurdles, and recommendations for project owners Design-Build teams. The study was conducted by Keith Molenaar, Dean of the College of Engineering & Applied Science at the University of Colorado – Boulder, a longtime active member of the committee.
The session was part of the TRB Annual Meeting being held in Washington, D.C., this week. Composed of representatives from State DOTs, research universities, and private sector groups, the committee is concerned with existing and emerging project delivery methods and identifying best practices, lessons learned, and research needs for future improvements.
