Recent Legislative Successes
Over the past year, ACEC-AZ has strengthened its advocacy capacity and delivered tangible results for members:
- Strengthened Legislative Representation:
ACEC-AZ hired the Dorn Policy Group as its lobbyist and implemented regular coordination meetings to stay ahead of legislative activity. This proactive approach enabled ACEC-AZ to take formal positions on several critical bills. - Expanded Workforce Through Licensure Reform:
ACEC-AZ successfully engaged in and supported passage of an engineering licensure reciprocity bill, improving workforce availability by allowing qualified engineers from other states to more easily get registered to practice in Arizona. - Leadership on Regional Transportation Funding:
ACEC-AZ helped to lead development of the strategy to extend the regional transportation sales tax in Pima County and serves on the campaign steering committee for the Connect Pima Campaign for the Regional Transportation Authority initiative helping advance long-term, voter-approved critical infrastructure investment - National Advocacy Support:
ACEC-AZ secured $75,000 in funding from ACEC National to support advocacy for the Connect Pima campaign. - Federal Engagement in Washington, DC:
ACEC-AZ leaders met directly with Arizona’s Congressional representatives and U.S. Senators to advocate on federal issues critical to the profession, including: - Protecting and expanding the R&D tax credit
- Improving the H-1B visa process to help firms access a broader, global workforce
